Rovers snap up Morton ace on pre-contract deal

Raith Rovers have secured the signing of Bobby Barr from Championship rivals Morton on a pre-contract agreement.

Barr, a left-sided midfielder, will join the Stark’s Park outfit on a two year deal when his Cappielow contract expires in the summer.

The 27-year-old previously played under Ray McKinnon at Brechin City and the Raith boss has been keen to be reunited with a player he decribes as a “flying winger”.

Barr has also had spells at Albion Rovers, Livingston and East Fife, winning player of the year awards at all three.

He has been an ever present in the Morton side this season, although he missed Saturday’s match at Stark’s Park due to suspension.

Rovers won the game 3-2 to move four points clear of the Greenock side in the the race for fourth place.
