Saints boss looks to add new faces.

The Barnetts Park boss still has his eye on a couple of players but, largely, is content that the squad he has will be enough to guide them away from the relegation zone.

As we were going to press, the manager was still waiting on responses from a couple of clubs for offers made to players.

The gaffer, whose side was again out of action at the weekend after their scheduled game with Newtongrange Star fell foul of the weather, said: “We are still waiting to hear back from a clubs about a couple of experienced players.

“I’m still a bit light up top and out on the wings.

“But looking at what we have, I’m happy.

“We’re solid elsewhere.”

The manager had been on the hunt for another goalkeeper only to find a new recruit under his nose.

Former East Fife youth Andy Collier has been at the club for a while as a ‘keeping coach.

Still only in his early 20s, the manager persuaded him to once again pull on the gloves competitively for United.

He added: “Andy retired for a couple of years and has been working as a goalkeeping coach.

“But we had a chat and he’s still young so has agreed to go from goalkeeping coach to our number 1.

“He’s played in a couple of friendlies for us and has done well.”

After the weekend’s frustration, Barrett is keen that his side gets back into action this weekend.

It won’t be easy, though, with opponents Musselburgh one of the toughest nuts to crack in the Super League.

“It’s going to be tough,” said the manager.

“But we need to start turning our home pitch into a fortress and picking up points there.

“It’s a massive game for us.”

The weekend’s game will be played at Barnetts Park with a 1.45p.m. kick off.

With no fixture at the weekend Barrett managed instead to get his side some training facilities near-by to keep his side ticking over.
