United travelled to Falkirk last Saturday to play Scottish Junior Cup quarter finalists Camelon in a league match.

Manager Ian Barrett was without Sam Buchan and the injured duo of Sean Murdoch and Ricky Patrick.

Three players, Gavin Wilson, Liam Rolland and Paul McManus made their full debuts for the club and the bench consisted of five teenagers.

After a horror first half, United matched their opponents in the second half, but they cannot expect to play for one half and defeat a team of Camelon’s calibre.

The visitors had the worst possible start when a 30 yard shot from Derek Ure took a deflection and looped over Gavin Wilson and into the net after only four minutes.

Camelon continued to dominate and Aaron Whitehead rescued his team after 28 minutes when he cleared a David Grant shot of the line, after he had rounded keeper Wilson.

It was no surprise when Camelon doubled their lead a few minutes later when a

great cross field pass found Calum Scott, and he drilled a low shot into the corner of net.

United came much more into the match after half time and were unfortunate not to reduce the leeway after 71 minutes.

Paddy Deane went on a run which took him past two defenders and he passed to Liam Rolland.

The Dundonald Bluebell loanee watched in disbelief when his shot hit the outside of a post, with keeper David Kane a mere spectator.

With eight minutes of the match left, Camelon made sure of all three points when Ure fired a low shot into the corner of the net for a third goal.

Deane managed to score a consolation goal after 87 minutes when he hit a 20 yard shot that took a slight deflection.
