Musselburgh were unbeaten in their last nine league matches.

This included impressive victories away to Kelty Hearts and at home to Linlithgow Rose.

In addition, Musselburgh had not tasted a league defeat on the road since the opening day of the season.

United came close to the opener midway through the first half when a free kick by Barry Sibanda from 25 yards rattled the corner of the post and bar.

On the half time whistle United broke the deadlock.

His strike partner Barry Sibanda collected the pass andfired a low shot past Dodds.

The United number 10 headed the ball into the visitors goalmouth where Aaron Whitehead was first to react when he dived and headed the ball into the net.

This reverse stung the visitors into action and for the next 20 minutes they dominated without calling on home ‘keeper Collier to make a save of note.

United sealed the match when Kieran Sturrock hit an absolute beauty of a strike from all of 30 yards that flew into the top corner.

On Saturday United are at home to Penicuik Athletic in the league, kick off 1.45pm.
