Barrett’s side travel to McBookie.com South Division side Dunbar in the DJ Laing East of Scotland Cup.

Despite Dunbar being well below Premier League Saints in the league structure, the Barnetts Park boss says nothing will be taken for granted at the weekend.

He said: “It’s a fair old trip for us to go there and Dunbar haven’t been beaten yet this season so will be going into the game with confidence.

“They’ll be seeing us as a scalp so we have to be prepared for that.”

Saints head into the cup tie on the back of a 3-3 home draw with Dundee Violet.

The point gained was no consolation to Barrett who had watched his side race into a two goal lead within the first 15 minutes.

“They got a goal back before the break and then a couple of defensive errors put them 3-2 up,” said the boss.

“The goals didn’t come through any sort of attacking football from them, we gave them away, so it was two points dropped for us.”

Barrett has bolstered his squad, adding former Dundonald defender Lee Duffy to the side.

“We have 15 new faces and a lot of them are young so I just wanted that bit of experience,” said the manager.

“We needed to add an older head.”
