Scott looks to get career back up and running at Bayview

The midfielder’s signature has been seen as a real statement of intent by the Fifers ahead of their League One campaign.

The 24-year-old has dropped down from full-time level to team up with the Fifers having spent his career with Hearts, Kilmarnock and Dunfermline.

But far from seeing it as a step backwards, Robinson says he expects to revel in his new surroundings as he aims to kick start his career after enduring a difficult spell through injury.

He said: “I know the gaffer Gary Naysmith after he came to Hearts for a wee bit to keep himself ticking over during pre-season.

“He gave me a phone call to ask if I’d be interested and I said “definitely”.

“For me I couldn’t have expected any more because I’ve had a difficult couple of seasons.

“I was injured for most of last season and the one before that at Hearts we were going through a transition period.

“A lot of new players came in and I had to move on.

“I went to Kilmarnock where I was hoping to have a better time but I just picked up injury after injury and it was stop/start.

“Hopefully I can get my career back up and running at East Fife.”

Robinson played in all three of East Fife’s pre-season fixtures ahead of this Saturday’s competitive kick-off against Dundee.

On Sunday East Fife faced a stern test when Derek McIness brought a full strength Aberdeen side down to Bayview.

Although they went down 4-2, Robinson reckoned it was the sort of exercise needed ahead of the weekend’s fixture.

He said: “Any Aberdeen team who plays as many first team players as they did will make it difficult.

“But we did really well and there are a lot of positives we can take into the Dundee game now.

“I’d rather have played that game than last Saturday when we played Spartans with no disrespect to them.

“It was great preparation for us and it stands us in good stead going into Saturday’s game.”
