Fife Junior football sides will kick off their league campaigns this Saturday.
Thornton Hibs begin their new season in the East Premier League with a home match against Bathgate Thistle.
Having finally been declared as last season’s North Division champions, league leaders Downfield having been deducted 15 points for fielding an ineligible player, team manager Craig Gilbert says he’s now just looking forward to the season starting and that playing at a higher level doesn’t faze him.
“We’ll do better in this league,” he said.
“It suits us better playing against the bigger teams.
“Last season it was against sides lower in the table that we would struggle, so playing against better sides will go in our favour.”
Premier league opponents Dundonald Bluebell will welcome Forfar West End to Moorside Park.
The club have added to the squad over the season and Lee Duffy has stepped up to become player/ assistant manager.
Due to the location of the teams who were relegated from the Premier Division, Kirkcaldy YM are now in the South Division and travel to kick off their season away to Pumpherston Juniors.
Andy Healey made four new signings during the close season and has appointed David Byrne as the club captain and Gary Spence as vice captain.
After suffering relegation to the lowest tier, Glenrothes Juniors will be looking to bounce straight back up but face a tough opening to their North Division campaign at Downfield.
