AMsoccer were given an opportunity to advance to their second semi final in as many weeks when Rosebank Rangers came calling in the Tom McIntyre Cup.

AM had a number of players unavailable but were on the front foot from kick off, as Curnyn and McLuckie combined well on the right to send in a couple of early crosses.

Youngster Ross Mutch and winger Lewis McLuckie found themselves through on goal but neither could convert after good forward runs.

Sharp failed to generate enough power when he met an excellent Morgan corner with his head on 25 minutes but Mutch would soon put AM in the lead.

Gilfillan sent in a free kick from the right wing and the young hitman arrived at the back post to head downwards and beyond the Rosebank keeper.

It could have been 2-0 when Mikey Reilly showed quick feet and was brought down by the visitors’ goalkeeper but the keeper redeemed himself with a diving save.

Rosebank were not posing any significant threat to the AMsoccer goal but this was largely du e to good organisation and the superb aerial prowess of Watt at centre half.

The second half was only a few minutes in when Lawson hooked a first time pass beyond the Rosebank back four for Mutch to race onto. He kept his cool and rounded the goalkeeper to score for 2-0.

A series of offside decisions interrupted the flow of the game midway through the second half and there was a half chance for Rosebank as their midfielder burst from deep and attempted a difficult half volley whilst off balance.

AM were able to possess the ball and the run the clock down for another win.

AMsoccer travel to Lumphinnans Utd for their first ever Fife Cup quarter final on Saturday and hope to make it into three semi finals in three weeks.
