Six decide to extend their time with Glenrothes

Glenrothes FC have continued to lay foundations for next season with half a dozen players choosing to extend their stay at the club.

The Warout side turned heads with the signing of former Kelty Hearts defender Murray Carstairs last week and his addition has had the knock on effect of several first team players deciding their future lies with the Glens.

Co-managers John Martin and Kevin Smith certainly had their hands full over the weekend with six players agreeing fresh contracts.

Fionn McLeod Kay, Stephen King, Blair Smart, Lea Schiavone, Charlie Denton and Conor Schiavone will all be part of the squad next season.

The players were delighted to sign up and are now keen to pull on the boots again and take to the park.

Conor Schiavone said: Delighted to sign on again at the Glens.

“As a Glenrothes boy It’s a club that has always meant a lot to me, knowing my dad played here, watching Glens play when I was young, and now playing here I’m over the moon to be able to stay for another year on top of my current contract.

“A club that’s going places and hopefully we can have some success on the park this season.”

McLeod Kay said the decision to stay at the Warout was a no-brainer given how much he is currently enjoying life with the club.

He said: “Buzzing to sign an extension to my contract.

“It’s the most I’ve enjoyed my football so it was an easy decision to make.

“Looking forward to the seasons ahead.”

King added: “Happy to sign another extension with the club and excited to play with a talented group of boys for the next couple of seasons.”
