Smith said: “We’ve played a full-time club in Airdrie so know what to expect.

“It’s good having the two games close together.

“We know it’s going to be played at a high tempo and that we have to keep the ball well.

“But I’m sure we’ll have somebody watching them so we’ll be prepared.

“We want to challenge against the best teams and compete with them so I’m looking forward to it.”

The Fifers returned to the Kingdom at the weekend with a point following their 1-1 draw.

Smith had headed his side into the lead before Iain Russell levelled matters with a second half penalty.

The club skipper reckoned his side gave a good account of itself and was unlucky not to get a penalty themselves when he was brought down in the second 45.

He said: “We stuck to our game plan and had a couple of chances to make it 2-0 at the time.

“I thought we did well.

“Jamie Insall had a good chance and the keeper has made the save and I had another header.

“It was quite an even game.

“I thought I should have had a penalty, their boy definitely clipped me.”
