Thistle played host to Bridge of Earn in the third round of the Fosters Scottish Cup but were sent packing after a poor second half showing

The local side started brightly and just after the quarter hour they opened the scoring when Shepherd sent in a deep cross which Ross powered home with a header at the back post.

With 26 minutes on the clock Thistle were forced into a change with skipper McArthur unable to continue with Cameron his replacement, but the reshuffle did not change the flow of the game with neither side taking command in a scrappy affair that was lacking finesse.

Thistle started the second half on the ascendancy as they had the first with Petrie having an early opportunity when he should have done better with a Shepherd pass.

Against the run of play it was the Perthshire side who were next to score when they levelled the tie after 63 minutes when Stephen waltzed through the static Thistle defence before firing past Henderson.

Just five minutes later and the tie was turned when the visitors took the lead.

Both Carson and Gorgon were static allowing the ball to bounce before Rattray latched on a fired low past Henderson.

With 83 minutes gone the tie was all but sealed when the unfortunate Carson missed the ball allowing Neil to slide the ball home for his sides third.

Things could have got worse for Thistle minutes from time when Ross conceded a penalty, but the in form Henderson saved.
