Dundee will travel to Bayview on Saturday as the two meet in Betfred League Cup action.

The game follows on from three quickfire friendlies where East Fife racked up two impressive wins and a defeat to an Aberdeen side who have already started their competitive campaign.

Bayview gaffer Naysmith handed run outs to all of his pre-season arrivals and their positive showings prove his squad is up to the challenges of the season ahead.

He said: “We brought in Willie Muir because he was one of the most consistent goalies in the league last season.

“It’ll be a good battle between him and Ryan Goodfellow but that’s something we have all over.

“Jonathan Page was back against Edinburgh City but on the Saturday Chris Kane was our best player at centre half - and then you still have Jason Kerr to come in.

“We have Chris, Tony Wallace, Pat Slattery and Scott Robinson in the central midfield where we’ll only be playing two most weeks and we have four going for it.

“You need that.

“Mark Lamont can play on the left or the right, Ross Brown can play on the right, Kevin Smith and Kyle Wilkie can play on the left and you have the lads up front.

“Paul McManus is doing all he can but we just need to get him a bit fitter.”

The manager and Jonathan Page both missed Sunday’s pre-season friendly loss to Aberdeen but will return for the weekend.
