Saints did look lively for the first 10 minutes without creating anything decent in front of goal.

The visitors, however, gradually took control and began to play a bit without creating many chances either with Saints defence coping for the first 30 minutes.

Saints pushed up several times but shots from Perrie on goal lacked a bit of power.

During the remainder of the half Arniston’s Kataleza began to switch from left to right, through the middle and threatened several times before he finally got Arniston in front a minute before the break.

A bit of luck when he got clear to see an attempt blocked by keeper Hunter.

In turn his block spun over the top of home goalie high into the net.

Disappointing second half for Saints who tried to get into goal scoring areas but just didn’t have the ability to get past the visitors’ defence. Duffy for Saints had a clear chance but got no power in his shot and easily held by the Arniston keeper.

On 50 minutes Kataleza made it 2-0 when he got clear of a marker and placed it well out of reach of keeper Hunter.

Five minutes later Saints were unlucky with their best effort of the game when a fierce shot came back of the post to be cleared away.

Immediately after Arniston made it three when Doig scored from a penalty after the home keeper committed an offence on Kataleza.

Saints looked totally down and it was no surprise when Deland increased the visitors’ tally on 65 minutes with a low effort into the corner of the net.

It’s tough times at the moment for the young Saints’ players and coaching staff.

The last three league fixtures have been against some of the better teams.

On Saturday Saints travel to Penicuik for a Fife & Lothians Cup first round fixture.

Penicuik are one of the top teams in the Super League – and it’ll be another hard day for Saints.
