St Monans and Fife Thistle couldn't be separated.

St Monans Swallows entertained Fife Thistle in their first competitive home game of the season.

The League Cup section tie proved to be a dreary affair with little goalmouth action.

The home team, who started the game minus eight regulars, struggled to raise a team and even had to resort to starting veteran coach George Glen. Both teams were devoid of guile in midfield and rarely threatened to score a goal which would probably have won the game.

The first half was short on chances with both teams cancelling each other out.

Swallows opened up much more offensively in the second half and could have opened the scoring when Jardine weaved his way through the away defence only to have his final shot blocked.

Glen had a free kick parried by goalkeeper Segarius and two Swallows players bundled the ball into the net only to be called back for a foul on the ‘keeper.

The game never really got out of second gear and the scoreless draw was as much as both teams deserved.

Match day sponsor was Andrew Needham Plumber and heating engineer.
