- Best chance for the home sides comes early on as Moore fires a shot over the bar while 1-on-1 with Jamie MacDonald
- Gozie Uguw heads Rovers in front on the stroke of half time
- Dylan Tait makes it 2-0 after heading in a terrific cross from Tumility
3 mins: First shot for Rovers
Jamie Gullan gets an effort away from the edge of the area after a Raith throw in down in the corner but it’s easily held by home keeper Blair Currie
5min: MacDonald shot
Ross McGeachie has struggled to deal with the runs of Rovers full back Keiran MacDonald early on and the defender got in behind with a easy move and a shot from a tight angle force Currie to beat the ball out for a corner at his near post.
The resulting corner ended with a free kick to the home side after a hand ball in the crowded penalty area by a Rovers player.
12 min: Binos should be 1-0 up
Keiran Moore has blown a big chance to put the home side ahead.
The winger makes a great run in from the left and finds himself 1-on-1 with Jamie MacDonald, he takes it in to the area and proceed to leather it over the bar from 12 yards.
A let off for Rovers, Moore has his head in his hands.
14 mins: Rovers respond
And the visitors miss a big chance of their own!
Gullan gets the ball in space at the back post after a deep cross in from the right, he hits it first time on the half volley but send it wide from 10 yards out. It was an awkward height for the striker but you feel he has to be getting that on target!
20mins: Rovers shot
Kai Kennedy makes a bit of space for himself around the edge of the area but his low effort is straight down the throat of Currie and easily held.
23 mins: Another let off for Rovers
Another big chance goes begging for Stirling. Sean Heaver breaks down the right and has Jack Leitch making a late run at the back post, his cross looks to be inch perfect for the attacker but Frankie Musonda gets the slightest touch in the middle of the area.
His block is sent goalwards but luckily all the sting has been taken out of it and MacDonald manages to hold it on the line but it was still worryingly close for the visitors.
28 mins: Bad challenge but no card
Stirling captain Ross McGechie is not having the best night so far. Keiran MacDonald has had him on toast this half and now the right back has wiped out Dylan Tait with a poor, late challenge.
Despite being right in front of the near side touch judge and with the ref only a few yards away himself he gets away with a talking to...
30 mins: Gullan shoots wide again
The Hibs loanee seems determined to hit everything first time this evening...
He picks up a cross on the 18 yard line and snatches at the shot and send it wide, he probably had time to take a touch but for the second time this game opts not to.
33mins: Kennedy shoots wide
Rovers are getting the chances but just not testing the home keeper.
Again, Keiran MacDonald takes the ball past McGeachie and plays a lovely back-hell to Tait who whips a great ball in. The home defence clear but only as far as Kennedy who curls a shot wide from the edge of the area.
35 mins: Stirling escape without a booking AGAIN
Jack Letich gets a shot away from the edge of the penalty area but Jame MacDonald holds it easy enough.
Rovers break up the pitch and Kennedy is on the ball just over half way before being taken out by David Wilson who, despite getting none of the ball, gets off without a card.
39 mins: Big save from Currie
Best chance of the half for Rovers.
Dylan Tait hits a low ball across the face of goal and Adam King gets a boot on it to divert it at goal but it’s great reactions from Blair Currie who manages to block it with his legs before the home side clear the danger.
42 mins: Gullan just cant get it on target!
You can forgive the striker for this one, it’s a great cross from the right by Tumilty and he does really well to win the header but fires it wide of the far post. Unlucky.
44 mins: GOAL RAITH - Ugwu makes it 1-0
Rovers take the lead on the stroke of half time.
Dylan Tait’s corner from the left is met at the back post by Gozie Ugwu and the big man rises above the defence to power a header past Currie in the Stirling goal.
The referee blows the whistle to bring the first half to an end.
Tale of the half
Rovers take a deserved lead in to the break.
The home side had their chances and Moore really should have had them in front but Rovers have controlled the possession, had a number of shots both on and off target and eventually got their rewards through Ugwu’s header.
