Survival hopes are boosted

Haddington were the form team securing six wins on the bounce while KSH had lost their last three fixtures, the last two games had saw ten goals conceded so the management were hoping for a vast improvement defensively.

KSH took the lead when Band hit a vicious in-swinging cross, Amos completely misjudged the ball as it flew into the side rigging to give the home support a much welcome goal.

Clearly rattled Haddington who had started the game strongly started to show some failings defensively with Band and Craig playing wide roles exposing the full backs with some tenacious work down either flank.

The home side scored a second on the half hour mark when G Gray chased down a long ball and left both central defenders in his wake, the big striker showed great composure as he drew Amos off his line before lifting the ball high into the net.

Despite the two goal lead no one in the home dug out were thinking the points were safe.

The previous weeks defensive frailties were always in the back of everyone`s minds as the second half began.

Haddington were getting frustrated in their efforts to get back into the game and a series of bookings from the referee stopped the flow.

They pulled a goal back when an expertly taken free kick crashed back of an upright allowing Sinclair the chance to knock the rebound into the empty net.

The pressure was raised when Doig saw red. Kennoway, though, held on.
