The home team dominated the first half and opened the scoring after only four minutes.

Craig Strurrock showed neat footwork to release Grant Paterson and his fine cross found Marc Ogg at the far post.

Ogg controlled the ball and drilled a low shot into the corner of the net.

Shortly afterwards Dale Reid got to the line and delivered a dangerous low cross with Saints full-back Michael Fleming coming close to an own goal when he contrived to hit his own post as he attempted to clear.

Former Tayport ‘keeper Richard Cargill saved a left-footer from Ogg, while Daniel Sanchez had a shot blocked after neat play by Liam Ross.

Ross himself snatched at a shot after robbing a defender, then Dale Reid was denied by Cargill.

Moments later, Marc Ogg delivered a deep corner which was headed back across goal by John Ovenstone.

Fellow centre-half Keiron Conway reacted sharpest to fire in Tayport’s second of the game, putting the Canniepairt outfit in a commanding position.

Then, on 80 minutes, St Andrews grabbed a leveller when ccross from the right was turned into his own net by Kieron Conway.

Tayport pressed forward in the closing stages and there was one half-chance late on when Richard Cargill came off his line and the ball broke for ‘Port sub Sergio Alvarez.
