Tayport 3-1 Forfar West End

The first half left a lot to be desired from the home side and it was end to end play for much of the first 45 minutes.

The opening goal actually went Tayport’s way as they made a quick start to the game, netting after only six minutes of play.

A free kick played into the box by Jamie McCabe was met by Bradie Heggie who finished well.

Forfar’s equaliser came ten minutes later from a corner which was headed home by Jay Yule.

Play continued with chances for either side, neither of whom could find the back of the net before the first half was up.

Clearly something manager Chris Macpherson said at half time resonated with the team and, despite finishing the first half on the back foot, the home side started the second half like a team who wanted to win the game.

Despite looking sharper, Tayport were left frustrated as they couldn’t manage to take the lead again as the second half progressed.

That was until a red card for the Forfar side saw number 10 Nathan Fitzpatrick off the park for dissent and put Forfar down to ten men for the remainder of the game.

Tayport finally shifted into gear and, after a Forfar defensive error, Dayle Robertson managed to chip the keeper and put Tayport ahead with just over 20 minutes left to play.

The third goal for Tayport came shortly after, Robertson again this time with a header that hit off the inside of the post and into the back of the net.

Another few chances came for the home side in the remainder of the 90 minutes, none of which could be converted and the game finished 3-1.
