Tayport produced an early Christmas miracle last weekend, scoring three times in the last five minutes of their East Premier League fixture against Haddington.

The comeback helped overturn a two-goal deficit and claim all three points.

The Hi-hi had the better start to the match and opened the scoring after ten minutes, courtesy of Paul Devlin.

Drew Fleming then had to cut out a dangerous Chris Inglis cross and Struan Christie cleared Scott Moffat’s stunning overhead kick off the line. Gavin Sorley also had to save from Moffat as the visitors dominated.

Midway through the half, however, ‘Port equalised when the ball popped up off the goalkeeper and Dale Reid guided his effort into the net.

Parity did not last long, though, with Moffat slotting home to give a Haddington an interval lead which could have been extended had Moffat’s long-ranger not hit the bar.

Two minutes into the second half, Haddington did make it 3-1 when Chris Inglis raced away and sent a high finish beyond Sorley.

Tayport’s prospects looked bleak, to say the least.

Struan Christie sparked the Canniepairt men back into life when he unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot which crashed against the woodwork.

While the visitors did miss one more opportunity, it was Tayport who had the better of the closing stages.

With time ebbing away, Stuart Walton won a free kick 30 yards out.

His set-piece thumped off the bar and broke for debutant Pavel Ostrovskis and he netted to reduce the leeway.
