Tayport are going from strength to strength

John Ovenstone is delighted with his side's fighting spirit.

In recent weeks, ‘Port have seen off Newtongrange Star, Penicuik Athletic and Broxburn Athletic, so will go in search of another Lothians scalp this weekend.

“It will be a big test against Bonnyrigg,” said boss John Ovenstone.

“They are going for the championship and it will be interesting to see how far we’ve come as a team. We have a new-found confidence and I believe that we can go to New Dundas Park and cause an upset.”

The gaffer was delighted by last week’s 2-0 win against Broxburn.

“It maybe wasn’t the best performance, but the players again showed great character and we picked up three valuable points. Defensively, we kept a good shape and I was really pleased that we recorded our second shut-out in three games.”

Another sound defensive display will be required tomorrow and Ovenstone reckons his players are improving all the time. “All of the players deserve credit. They are working hard and listening to what we want them to do. We’ve got a wealth of experience in our backroom team, with Steve Kerrigan, Allan Ramsay and Jim Moffat, and that stands us in good stead. The players are buying into our philosophy and I’m sure we can go from strength to strength.”
