Having clinched three league points last weekend, Tayport now turn their attention to cup business.
Dave Baikie’s team will travel to meet Scone Thistle in the quarter-finals of the inter-regional GA Engineering Cup.
Tayport have reached this stage by virtue of three contrasting wins.
Firstly, there was a narrow 1-0 win in the preliminary round against East Craigie.
Next up was a dramatic 3-2 victory against Downfield, with Grant Lawson netting a last-minute winner from the penalty spot.
More impressively, Tayport went to North Region top dogs Culter in the last round and scored a comfortable 4-1 triumph.
The weekend’s win against Dundonald was also a confidence-booster for ’Port.
Manager Dave Baikie said: “It was a tight one but I thought that, over the piece, we shaded it.
“We got stronger as the match went on against a team who won’t be a million miles away when the promotion slots are decided.
“To beat Dundonald and move three points ahead of them is a bonus.”
Baikie gave a special mention to debutant goalkeeper Richard Cargill. “I was really pleased with the clean sheet. Richard had a great debut between the sticks. He made one fantastic save in particular during the first half and produced a couple of other excellent stops.”
Kick-off at Farquharson Park is scheduled for 2.30pm and, if level after 90 minutes, will be decided by penalties.
