And there couldn’t be more at stake, with a victory likely to see Thistle promoted to the FAFA Premier League.

The sides have already met twice this season with Thistle emerging victorious both times with a 3-1 cup win away and then a 3-0 league win at home.

However the opposition have also enjoyed an excellent league campaign although despite losing only five of their 27 league games to date too many draws mean that they will finish fifth in the FAFA Championship.

With 100 goals scored in the league campaign alone including a 5-0 thumping of champions Methilhill Strollers and a record breaking 15-0 win at home to Portmoak, it has been an excellent season Thistle who would love to cap it off with promotion after three consecutive seasons of battling relegation.

It’s been quite a turn around in fortunes for the local club.

Thistle manager Colin Murray said: “It has been an enjoyable season after we rebuilt the squad following on from a torrid 2014/15 season.

“But promotion would certainly be the icing on the cake and just reward for the players who have given their all this season.

“If, however we fail in the final hurdle then we know we have a squad capable of pushing for the title next season.”

The match will kick off at the weekend is 2pm at The Myre, Falkland.
