Lochore may be bottom of the table but they made life very difficult for Thornton who only managed to seal victory with two late goals.

In fact it was the visitors who took the lead in the 15th minute when Kevin Brown’s fierce strike took a slight deflection before ending up in the back of the net.

Thornton had to regroup and get back on track against a side who were proving tough to break down.

Daniel McNab levelled affairs ten minutes later with a close in volley to complete the first-half scoring.

The same player gave the Hibs the lead on the hour mark and just when it looked as if this would be the end of the scoring came the goals that ensured victory for Craig Gilbert’s men.

In the 85th minute, Chris Ireland sent Raymond Crichton dashing up the left flank.

The substitute cut in and fired in a shot that Gary Inglis saved well but the ball fell into the path of Garry Thomson jnr who shot home from close range.

Barely thirty seconds later, Crichton gathered the ball just inside the Lochore half then went on a run where he seemed to take on half of their team before rolling the ball into the unguarded net.
