Tough cup tie next on the agenda for Tayport

As was the case the previous weekend, Tayport, like most local clubs, suffered a postponement on Saturday, with the DJ Laing East Region Cup tie against Scone being postponed due to a water-logged Canniepairt surface.

Next up for ‘Port is another cup tie, this time in the Thornton’s Property League Cup, with Dundee East Craigie providing the opposition tomorrow afternoon.

Chris Macpherson will be hoping his side can get back into action, as there is always a risk that postponements can disrupt momentum, and Tayport had been on an encouraging run of form.

The match, at Craigie Park, however, will be a tough one as the Shipbuilders are flying high in the second tier and are well on course for promotion to the top flight.

With a few former ‘Port players, notably Grant Paterson jnr, in their ranks, they will be well motivated for the encounter.

They have won 16 out of their 18 league fixtures to date, with no defeats.

At home, East Craigie have scored 56 goals in 11 games, with 11 conceded.

So, a 5-1 win is their average home result.

They will fancy their chances. Kick off at Craigie Park is scheduled for 2.30pm.
