Town can help roar Saints to survival

United took a step towards their own survival on Saturday, beating Broxburn 4-0.

Just ten league games remain and, with six of them at Barnetts Park, Barrett reckons the opportunity is there to make home advantage really count.

“Home form is going to be massive,” he said.

“If we can get 10 points from our home games and five away from home then that will go a long way to making sure we’re safe.

“But it’s do-able for us to win all our home games especially if we can get a few big crowds down, create a bit of atmosphere and have that twelfth man.”

Saturday’s 4-0 win was the perfect response from a 7-0 hammering at Bonnyrigg seven days previous.

“Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to come back up again,” said Barrett.

“We worked on a few things at training during the week to become a better defensive unit and that’s paid off.”

But Saints won’t get a chance to build on their league win this weekend with the side travelling to Linlithgow Rose in the D J Laing East of Scotland Cup.

“I’m looking forward to the game, it’ll give me a chance to look at a different shape and certain positions.

“It takes a bit of pressure of the league.”
