It only took him eight minutes to claim the opener when he converted Darren Ormiston’s perfect cross.

Danny Fletcher in the Tweedmouth goal saved well twice in quick succession to prevent Jack Hoskisson claiming his first goal in a Hibs jersey before he was called into action twice within a minute to thwart Thomson.

The Hibs front-man was in no mood to be denied, though, and when strike partner, Ormiston, intercepted a mis-placed pass from Craig Heath in the 39th minute, Thomson was only too willing to smash the ball beyond Fletcher.

Ormiston was the provider again shortly before the interval and this time Thomson rounded Fletcher before rolling the ball into the empty net.

The Hibs scored their fourth in the 62nd minute with Ormiston being the marksman on this occasion and Daniel McNab providing the assist.

In the 86th minute a clever pass from Ross Hain allowed Thomson to score his fourth and complete the scoring which meant Thornton were able to edge into pole position in the First Division Conference A albeit on goal difference from Edinburgh United.
