Th defeat leaves Tayport rooted to the bottom of the McBookie.com East Super League.

The Gowfers were two up inside quarter of an hour with both counters coming from breaks down the left flank.

The first attack led to a scrambled sixth minute opener then, on 15 minutes, the visitors raced away to win a corner and scored with a near post header from the resultant delivery to give themselves a cushion.

In response, Alan Tulleth was just off target and Stefan Elvin had a shot saved, but the odds became stacked against ‘Port when player-boss John Ovenstone was dismissed for his attempt to halt rampaging Carnoustie danger-man Marc Scott.

The ten men produced a couple of half-chances towards half-time, with Gregor Anderson seeing a header cleared off the line and Stfan Elvin heading over.

Any hopes of a comeback were dashed early in the second half when a long Duncan MacPherson kick down the park fell for Mike McIlravey.

His effort was stopped by Gavin Sorley, but Stuart Gersok was there to hit home Carnoustie’s third.

Again, to their credit, Tayport attempted to get themselves back into the game with the always dangerous Alan Tulleth shooting across the face of goal and Matt Adam being denied by MacPherson.

Tayport’s Stefan Elvin had a header tipped over and Dale Robertson was off-target at the near post, but it was not to be Tayport’s night in front of goal.

The Gowfers completed the scoring and consigned Tayport to defeat late on in the game when McIlravey burst forward and set up Marc Scott for a tap in.
