United look forward to some home comforts

The fixture calander hasn’t been kind to Ian Barrett’s side, with the Saints playing their past five games without home advantage.

But an end to that run is just around the corner with Saints, who are again on their travels this Saturday to Newtongrange, preparing to host Tayport in a crucial relegation clash on Wednesday night.

Barrett admits the sequence of away fixtures hasn’t been kind and is looking forward to returning home.

He said: “That’s six away games in a row we’re having to play.

“It’s not great but what it means is that we have a chance to really make our home advantage count when those games all come around.

“We have nine games left to play and six of them will be at home.”

The gaffer is fully focused on Nitten at the weekend, and hopes to take the three points and take that confidence into the derby next midweek.

“Tayport will be looking to do the same this weekend,” said the gaffer.

“What it will come down to is the team who wants it the most.

“I’m hoping to have Ryan McInnes and Sam Buchan back for Newtongrange but will be missing Craig Wedderburn and Kevin McMullan who is still suspended for that game.”
