‘Port eventually emerged victorious from an enthralling encounter against Hill o’Beath to boost their survival hopes.

The Canniepairt men initially led by two, but needed a late equaliser and a dramatic last-gasp winner to clinch all three Super League points.

The opening goal came after quarter of an hour.

Dale Reid was fouled and Danny Cavanagh stepped up to curl an exquisite free kick into the top corner of the net.

Tayport doubled their lead when Clark Kay swung over an inviting free kick and Reid sent a glancing header beyond ‘keeper Hall.

From a comfortable position, what followed was met by dismay by all in the Tayport ranks.

In a terrible five minute spell, Hill o’Beath netted three times to turn the game on its head.

Colin Wilson headed before Aaron Hay crashed in another header to make it two-apiece.

Worse was to follow a minute later, with Hay again the marksman.

It looked like mission impossible for Tayport, but the players rallied magnificently.

With 86 minutes on the clock, Dale Robertson hoisted a high ball towards the front post where Adam challenged Stuart Hall.

The home ‘keeper failed to deal with Adam’s presence and the ball crossed the line before being cleared.

The assistant referee was on the spot, indicating a goal.

In the final minute Clark Kay launched the ball upfield, Gary Sutherland won his header and Adam ran beyond his strike partner, into the box, and beat Hall with a clinical finish to hand the win to Tayport.
