We aim to carry winning form into next encounter
Tayport will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce when they go tomorrow (Saturday) to East Lothian.
They’ll be travelling to take on Haddington Athletic in an East Premier League encounter at Millfield Park.
And, after a stuttering start to the campaign, ‘Port have recorded home victories against Dundee Violet and Whitburn, and want to build on that momentum.
Haddington, currently in the bottom half of the table, scored something of a surprise win over Tranent but have lost to St Andrews and Glenrothes, with both losses coming on visits to Fife.
At home, however, they seem a much tougher proposition, having won 11 of their last 16 league matches at Millfield.
‘Port, however, will travel in confident mood.
After the win against Whitburn, player-boss John Ovenstone said: “I was really pleased with the result and the performance. It’s exactly what we’d asked for from the players and they responded. Right from the warm-up, we looked sharp and continued that into the game.”
The gaffer is confident his charges can carry last weekend’s form into tomorrow’s 2.30pm clash. “We’ve put together a new team and we’re starting to gel and the players have belief in what we’re doing and the way we’re trying to play.” Last season’s top scorer, Alan Tulleth, may be available for selection but Marc Ogg is still suspended.
