The Methil men slipped to narrow Betfred Cup defeats to Hearts and Inverness over the last week and now return to their League One campaign on Saturday.

They travel to face Partick Thistle this weekend, a side themselves relegated from the second tier at the end of last season.

Goalkeeper Hart believes the past couple of games will stand them in good stead come this weekend.

He said: “Thistle are probably still a Championship side with the squad they have.

“It’s another away tie at a decent-sized stadium with a nice, grass pitch.

“Our experience against Inverness will help us, and we can go into that game with confidence.”

Looking backover the past couple of games, the 24-year-old believes his side are gradually improving.

At Inverness, Jack Hamilton missed a penalty to make it 1-1 and Hart produced a superb late stop to keep the score at 1-0.

He added: “The games against Hearts and Inverness were a real step up and Dumbarton was a tough game as well. We built on each performance as we went along.

“Big Jack’s performance deserved the goal.

“Nobody is going to have a go at him for missing the penalty because he was outstanding.

“My save was a strange one. It seemed like the game stopped for a bit, but he came through and took it a bit wide and that bought me a bit of time and that helped me because it narrowed his angle.”
