We can win every game, says Insall.

Seven games are all which separates the Methil side from a championship win and they’re rightly in the frame of mind to take it ‘one game at a time’.

There’s no point in looking any further than the next Saturday because with each passing win that league trophy edges closer to Bayview.

To use another well trodden phrase, East Fife have seven cup finals left to play.

At the weekend they again swapped places with league leaders Elgin City and leapfrogged the men from the north into top spot.

That came thanks to a 4-2 win at Bayview over Annan Athletic, Jamie Insall and Jonathan Page getting doubles.

On-loan Hibs striker Insall says the Fifers are focused on title success.

He said: “We think we can win every game.

“At Hampden a few weeks ago (when East Fife were beaten 3-0 by Queen’s Park) things just didn’t happen for us, but whether home or away that’s the plan each week.

“The gaffer never sets the team up to go out for a draw and we’re capable of going on and winning most of the games, if not all of them.

“We’re rightly favourites to win the league because I think we’re the best side and should be up there.

“We’ll take it game by game.”

Insall was drafted in to the starting XI with Nathan Austin missing through injury.

He partnered Kevin Smith up top with the makeshift strikeforce posing Annan no end of trouble.

Smith didn’t get his name on the scoresheet, but Insall paid tribute to the efforts of the long serving Fifer.

“Kev Smith was phenomenal,” said Insall.

“He did a lot of work which you maybe don’t see - behind the scenes work we call it.

“He was in and out and was tremendous - it was a great skipper’s performance.”

Austin’s injury appeared to have more of an effect on Annan’s preparation for the game than it did East Fife’s.

Their focus throughout the week would have been to stop the top scorer, with the Fifers keeping his absence underwraps until Saturday afternoon.

Insall himself said he was totally in the blue until late last week.

“I didn’t even know he was injured until the Thursday,” said the striker.

“The gaffer has always believed in keeping a winning side and I had a poor performance at Hampden and was arguably the poorest on the pitch.

“I got dropped for the next game and rightly so and they went on and won with ‘Fash’ getting two and Kev getting one.

“I expected to be on the bench but come Thursday I knew Fash was injured and once again it gave me a chance.

“All the lads are as good as each other and the gaffer will pick what side he thinks will go out and win the game.”

Insall opened the scoring after just four minutes when a Kyle Wilkie shot hit him and deflected into the net.

“I knew loads about it,” he joked.

“I’ve always been told that as a striker to get in good positions and half the goals you won’t know about and that was one of them.

“I’ll take it though, it put us one up and then we went on to dominate.”
