We know a win is a must for us

A defeat to Glenrothes at weekend has sucked the Saints into a relegation scrap they’re keen to get out of sooner rather than later.

Saints are currently fourth bottom of the East Premier League, and with four clubs relegated at the end of the season, Morrison is targeting all three points when they travel to league’s bottom club on Saturday.

He said: “I went up there with Dundonald and we did well against them because we got an early goal.

But I’m not under any illusions about Saturday.

“Dundee Violet may be bottom but they’ve only been getting beaten by the odd goal here and there.

“We know it’ll be a difficult game but I’m 100 per cent certain it’s a must win for us.

“If we win then it’s going to make it really difficult for them to get out of the relegation place and could also put 12 points between ourselves and Whitburn.

“Armadale could be a further nine points behind and would give us a bit of a gap.

“If we can put on the kind of performance we have been, taking out the Glenrothes game, then we can put ourselves in a more promising position.

“I have confidence in the boys that we can go up there and put some points on the board.”

And Morrison is looking for an immediate reaction from the Glenrothes disappointment.

He added: “There just wasn’t as much energy or tempo about us, even in the warm up.

“It was billed as a derby, a few of the players knew each other, and I just thought we looked a bit nervous.

“The players had been playing well in the past few games so had all earned their place in the team.

“We’ve had a chat about the game and I was open with the players and asked if there is anything they’d like to change but they’ve said they’re happy with what we’re doing.”
