Tyndall Bruce Park is ready to host top amateur action.

A host of problems both on and off the park have haunted the local football club over the past few seasons.

Not only have results been far from desirable, but Falkland have found themselves snagged with seemingly never ending pitch and building repair issues.

As if these problems weren’t testing enough, the club fell into dispute with the Fife Amateur Football Association in February, the disagreement enough to end the season early for the club.

But, like so often before, Falkland regrouped and, after a successful application for membership of the Kingdom Caledonian League, are raring to get going again.

A spokesman said: “It’s been all systems go to be ready for the new season which kicks off on August 13.

“Off the field volunteers have been busy getting the clubhouse ready, so thanks to this small group and local companies for their donations and input.”

A large modular building has been developed at the park which includes a bar and large changing rooms.

Work continues with a new drainage system installed and grass treatment ongoing.

To ensure the new facilities and lush playing surface get the best use - boss Bobby Port has been busy assembling a competitive squad.

He said: “This is a big challenge at Falkland but one I am looking forward to developing over the coming seasons.

“We had a young, inexperienced group last season and it was not ideal when work took me out the country for seven months.

“Falkland hasn’t had the best of times these last couple of years on the pitch with results, but the amazing work by the volunteers from the village to rebuild the clubhouse after the roof collapsed has been unbelievable and it is my job to repay them with building a team they can be proud of.” Tyndall Bruce Park was opened in 2011 but almost immediately was caught up in a legal wrangle over access to water and electric which was overcome 12 months ago.

The clubhouse roof then collapsed before the breakdown with the FAFA.
