We won't let Queen's outpoint us

This weekend the Methil men host Queen’s Park, a side they slipped to a 3-0 defeat to just a few weeks ago.

It was the second win Queen’s have recorded over the Fifers this campaign, with the Methil men winning the other game.

And it irks the Bayview boss that Queen’s have the upper hand in that regard so heis determined there will be no moral victories for the Hampden side come 4:45 on Saturday.

Of course, the three points are far more crucial to East Fife’s title chasing run-in rather than for settling any score, but Naysmith wants to hurt Queen’s in that regard anyhow.

He said: “Queen’s Park done a job on us last time and have beaten us twice this season which I don’t like.

“I don’t want any team to get more points against us than we get against them.

“We’ll be looking to get the three points because they’ll still have aspirations of getting into the play-offs or maybe pushing to win the title.

“We’ll have a look back at the games we’ve played and haven’t done so well against them to make sure we don’t make the same mistakes again.”

The Fifers go into the weekend’s game absolutely flying, having thrashed Stirling Albion 6-0 at the weekend.

The gaffer said there was a lot to be impressed with.

He said: “It was very pleasing.

“We asked the players to start how they had done the week before against Annan.

“I thought the way the fixtures were going Stirling had to win to keep them in and around the play-offs.

“When you have that bit of pressure you can become that bit nervous.

“I wanted to start how they did the week before and they took me to my word.

“We changed it slightly at 2-0 and put Kyle in behind and it worked.

“I’m not trying to play it down because I want the players to be proud of coming to Stirling and winning 6-0, but at the end of the day it’s still three points.

“The boys played really well and if the game had gone on any longer we’d have scored more.”
