Rovers don’t play this weekend as the Betfred Cup knock out stages begin, but the midfielder (inset) says it has come at a good time after the team lost for the first time in the league last weekend at Inverness.

"This break has probably come at a good time,” he says, “though some of the boys would probably tell you differently.

“We've played a fair number of game and personally I've played a lot of minutes so a wee week off won't do me any harm.

“Obviously we'lll be gearing up for the Dunfermline match anyway and whether it was this week or next week, we were going to be fired up for it, so it's just an extra week to prepare.”

Hendry says the mood in the dressing room is “absolutely fine” after the 2-0 defeat in the Highlands and says the team will have no problems in bouncing back after an impressive start to the season.

"I think we've had a better start to the league season than we planned having just come up from League One,” he says.

“We're disappointed with the game on Saturday because we didn't perform as well as we could have. I know and the gaffer knows that we're a lot better than that.

“It wasn't a good game for me personally. I couldn't dictate it as much as I would have liked and my touch wasn't great.

“It wasn't one thing in particular but we didn't play our passing game as well as we normally do and that kind of killed us.

“That's what we're good at - we like to dominate the game - but when we lost possession on Saturday we didn't look like getting into the game too much.

“They've got experienced boys who are good at this level and can punish us when we lose the ball, as I did for the first goal, so it was a hard game.

“We will learn from the mistakes we made in the game and we'll be better for it come next Saturday.

“It'll be the biggest game this season so far. I didn't play in the last game but I was there when Vaughnie scored a hat trick.

“It’ll be a good game and the boys will be fired up for it.”
