We'll be prepared for a Linlithgow backlash

Rose, who reached the last 16 of the Scottish Cup, were dumped out of the junior equivalent by Kilwinning on Saturday.

And St Andrews United boss Barrett is aiming to heap further misery on the Super League giants this weekend.

He said: “It’ll be a difficult game because they’re a very good football playing team.

“But every game is a cup final for us at the moment as we try to climb up the league, so we will make sure we prepare for it in the proper manner.

“They got beat in the Junior Scottish Cup last week so they’ll be out to make amends.”

Saints were left without a game on Saturday with the Barnetts Park surface ruled unplayable for the visit of Sauchie.

Instead the side were able to organise training facilities at the Michael Woods Sports Centre in Glenrothes.

Amongst those hoping to help Saints to three points at the weekend is new recruit Liam Roland.

The youngster has joined the club from Dundonald Bluebell.

Barrett said: “He brings a bit of youth to the side.

“I’ve seen him playing for Dundonald at under 19s and then the juniors.

“He hasn’t been playing as much so we managed to bring him in.

“He’s a boy with a big future, is very versatile and can cover a few positions.”
