Work ethic of East Shore Park men delights manager Hudson

Newburgh manager Scott Hudson was delighted with the attitude of his side after they rolled up their sleeves to see off West Calder on Saturday.

West Calder may have gone into the game propping up the division but have made various changes behind the scenes which convinced Hudson they’d be a different proposition than they appeared to be on paper.

And that’s how it turned out, both sides going toe to toe across the match, which was switched to Livingston’s Tony Macaroni Arena, before the visitors closed out a 5-3 win.

Hudson said: “I said to the team before the game not to expect an easy match as I knew that West Calder had appointed a new manager and had made a lot of new signings.

“We played well in some really awful conditions and dug in when we had to”.

Newburgh are at home on Saturday with Stoneyburn, the favourites to lift the league title, the visitors. Kick off at East Shore Park is at 2.30pm.
