Almost 200 supporters who had applied to the Flyers’ official travel club for tickets and travel to the Braehead Arena for the second leg of the quarter final against the Braehead Clan were left angry and disappointed when they were told that the Clan had withdrawn a promised allocation of almost 300 tickets for Flyers’ fans through the travel club, reducing it to 109.

A post on the Flyers’ Facebook page said: “Braehead Clan had allocated 300 tickets to Fife fans BUT have now withdrawn the confirmed allocation.

“We understand that Fife fans who have frequently travelled to the previous games in Braehead will be upset about this, however this is outwith our control.

“The Official Travel Club will allocate the 109 tickets on a first come first served basis.

“We can only apologise on behalf of Braehead Clan for this situation and would urge you to contact them direct regarding the ticket situation.”

In a statement from the Glasgow club, posted on its website on Tuesday, it stated: “To date, 241 away tickets have been purchased via Ticketmaster by Fife Flyers fans since their release on Monday.

“In addition to this, the Flyers Official Travel Club have requested 300 additional discounted tickets which would have taken the total allocation to Fife Flyers supporters to figures in excess of 500 seats.

“The Braehead Clan have a policy to allocate up to 10 per cent of capacity for visiting supporters, thus bringing the total allocation to the Fife Flyers fans to 350.”

Flyers fans took to social media sites to express their anger and disappointment.

Despite trying to contact the Clan management, nobody at the club was available for comment yesterday (Wednesday).
