Kirkcaldy’s Beth Scoon has been selected for the Great Britain Women’s squad ahead of their World Championship bid next month.
The 19-year-old former Balwearie High School pupil is the only Scot selected in the final 23 for the competition in Dumfries.
The six-team Division 2A tournament, which involves GB, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Korea, New Zealand and Poland, runs from March 30 to April 5.
Beth was part of the GB squad that just missed out on gold and promotion last season, winning the silver medal in Asiago, Italy.
She currently plays for Kingston Diamonds in Hull, and combines a busy ice hockey schedule with her studies at Napier University, where she is in the second year of a sports and exercise degree.
The squad met at the weekend and had an on-ice camp in Sheffield, along with a fitness training day off the ice at the University of Gloucester.
Coach Cheryl Smith said: “We feel we have a good group of players who are very focused about the task in hand.
“We came so close last year in Asiago but we can build on that and take the positives from how well we did.
“It was a tough selection process and the girls have worked so hard throughout the year – and I know they can’t wait to represent GB in their own country.”
Another Kirkcaldy player, Beth Milne, who played for GB in the recent Women’s U18 competition in Katowice in Poland, has been named as a reserve.
