Cupar Golf Club - the oldest nine hole club in the world.

The ‘TSB’ (trades, sponsors and businesses) was keenly contested for over three decades at Cupar Golf Club before interest dwindled to the extent the event was cancelled last year.

For 30 years teams of four had teed off against rival groups.

But the club is refusing to let its flagship tournament slip into the past, and wants to ignite interest again this season.

Assistant match secretary Giancarlo Panetta said: “The TSB used to be massive and we want to bring it back.

“The whole community was involved.

“This year we’ll be increasing the prize money for it so hopefully that can attract a few more teams.”

The TSB is set to return again on July 31 but is only a part of the club’s summer plans.

On June 26 it’s the Gent’s Open with members and guests invited to compete.

In August comes the club’s finale when the Cupar Open, again offering increased prize money, is held on August 7.

Cupar Golf Course is located at Hilltarvit, which is on the south side of Cupar, ten miles west of St Andrews.
