Fife golfers Connor Syme and Calum Hill competing in Surrey


That competition follows Drumoig’s Syme tying for 17th place last weekend at the Amgen Irish Open, earning him prize money of €63,641.
The 29-year-old carded rounds of 72, 67, 78 and 67 for a par total of 284 at Northern Ireland’s Royal County Down Golf Club at Newcastle, nine shots off Danish winner Rasmus Hojgaard’s score of 275.

Hide AdThat was his best finish since a joint-15th place, with a 12-under-par total of 268, at mid-July’s Genesis Scottish Open at North Berwick in East Lothian, won by Oban’s Robert MacIntyre.
Livingston’s Grant Forrest and MacIntyre were the highest-placed Scots in County Down, sharing fifth place with scores of 280.
Kirkcaldy-born Hill, also 29, placed joint-30th with a two-over-par total of 286 after carding rounds of 72, 67, 72 and 75, picking up prize money of €44,122.
That was his best result since tying for second place at mid-June’s Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed at Helsingborg in Sweden with Swede Sebastian Soderberg, one point behind home winner Linn Grant’s 17-under-par total of 271.
