Gymnastics festival brings the best to the area
Young gymnasts from across the Kingdom arrived at the Levenmouth Academy for a festival of the sport.
The tenth annual Fife Schools Gymnastics Festival was incredibly well attended with over 300 pupils taking part.
The festival, which was open to both primary and secondary pupils, aimed to encourage school pupils to take part in a sport which supports more children becoming more active, more often.
The pupils, taking part as class groups representing their schools, had the chance to watch gymnasts from local clubs, showing pupils the pathway from schools gymnastics to the opportunities that club gymnastics can bring.
Jennifer Mann Active Schools Co-ordinator, said: “The event was a celebration of teamwork show casing gymnastics skills from pupils who have been participating in extra curricular gymnastics clubs and pupils who train with local gymnastics clubs across the region.
“It was an amazing event: full of colour, fun, enjoyment and a great atmosphere with young people supporting each other in the spectating audience.
“The event couldn’t have run without the support from Fife School Sport Gymnastics group, Fife Active Schools and parent volunteers from schools and clubs.”
Amongst the local schools taking part at the event were Mountfleurie PS, Pathhead PS, Parkhill PS and Levenmouth Academy itself.
