Haddies join in the party at Highland Marathon

Anster Haddies joined in the celebrations as The Highlander Mountain Marathon celebrated its tenth anniversary.

The tough two day event see competitors camp out on the course overnight.

The venue changes annually and this year Cannich, some 20 miles west of Inverness, was the starting point.

Saturday’s route covered 28Km and 2050m of climbing.

Sunday was 27Km and 1600m of ascent.

The total climb over the weekend equates to nearly three times up Ben Nevis.

Surviving the event were Mark Harris 10hrs 1min, Johnny and Thomas Knox 13hrs 20min.

The Chariots of Fire Race saw some 500 runners donning white and racing 5K along West Sands in St Andrews.

Runners are rewarded with a bottle of beer, fudge donut and the knowledge they are raising funds for a cancer charity.

Haddies times were J. Taylor 21.16, A. Marr 22.16 and K. Cunningham 27.00.

Enjoying a weekend break in Dumfries, Hazel Bradley couldn’t resist the lure of a 10K trail race at Mabie Forest.

Hazel finished in 51.23 and first female supervet.

The ever popular Parkruns saw Haddies at two venues.

At the Kirkcaldy Parkrun Y Dehn finished in 22.26, distance PB and F Cruickshanks 24.01.

Over at St Andrews C. McKie finished in 18.58 course PB, A. Marr 20.08 course PB, G. Halliday 20.13 Ccourse PB.

Wednesday’s training is the annual 4x400m relay event.
