Half marathon debut for Leven runner Becky
Becky Oakenfull of Leven Las Vegas Running Club chose a blustery Alloa Half Marathon for her first ever run over the 13.1 mile distance.
Becky was in excellent company with eight of her LLV club mates also taking part, giving her the usual LLV help and encouragement in taking on her latest challenge.
The four mile long straight section between Tillicoultry and Menstrie is almost always run into the teeth of a strong wind and this year was no exception.
But the preparation of the Leven Las Vegas squad meant that they were able to cope with the difficult conditions.
Bryan McLaren, Davie Hogg, Terry Cullen, Grant Stevenson, Matthew Miller, Jim Dunstan, Tessa Davies and Lorna Hughes also completed the half marathon successfully with Bryan first LLV home in 1hr 29 mins.
The day before, Tam Cullen wasn’t holding back at Kirkcaldy parkrun where he set yet another personal best.
Wendy Wylie also ran well at St Andrews parkrun where she also set a personal best.
Also on the half marathon trail were Robin Pate and Josephine Lenachen at Loch Katrine Running Festival, an annual event which raises funds for Alzheimers Scotland.
The picturesque gem of a route around the loch is well known for for its multiple small undulating hills which may have bugged some, but didn’t stop Robin and Josephine from completing the course.
