Hatton closes out maiden European Tour win

The hard work had been done 24 hours before and on Sunday Tyrrell Hatton continued to turn on the style as he collected the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Hatton equaled the Old Course record with a stunning 62 on Saturday afternoon to send him surging clear into a three shot lead at the top of the leaderboard.

It was a lead which he never looked like giving up on the final day's play.

Walking down the stretch to the 18th hole the 24-year-old Englishman knew he had the title in the bag with closest competitor Ross Fisher some four shots behind.

Sunday was about just getting the job done and barring a dramatic collapse the title would be his.

The tone was set on the very first hole as Hatton birdied the par four.

It was to be the first of six birdies he'd make with only a bogey on the par four 17th blotting the copy book.

His final score of -23 saw him become the first English winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship since Oliver Wilson in 2014.
