The weather stayed dry and the cool wind did not deter the runners on the out and back course along farm tracks.

The numbers attracted by the event tells its own story about how popular the race has become, with competition as heated as you’d expect from the turnout.

Michael Carroll from Perth Road Runners was first over the line in a time of 32:28, chased by local brothers Tristan (second place) and George Rees (third), both members of Fife AC.

Keeping it in the family, first lady home was Halina Rees (Fife AC) in 38:24, 2nd lady was Mary Western (PH racing club) and third Rhona Van Rensburg.

First male Haddie to finish was Thomas Knox in 38:52, with first female Haddie, Ailsa Cruickshanks (42:05).

Sixteen Haddies took part in the popular race, with first place age categories for Bill Hutchison (MV60) and Sandy Chalmers (MV80) ensuring the local club had members at the top end of the leaderboard of its own event.

Haddies were also in action across other parts of the country as they welcomed the beginning of the autumn race season.

Last weekend, Gordon Halliday took on a much longer distance as he tackled the 40 miles of the River Ayr Ultra Marathon.

Gordon completed the gruelling route in a time of 7hrs 2mins 39secs.

Three Haddies travelled north to Inverness last weekend to compete in the Loch Ness Marathon.
