Hyndland visit worth the trip for Waid FPs

It was back to the grind for the rugby men of Anstruther as they travelled through to play Glasgow side Hyndland at the home of Glasgow Warrior’s Scoutstoun Stadium.

Under the leadership of captain Kato Blockley, Waid secured victory eventually after taking a while to get off the mark.

Tries from Rory Doak, Kieran Doak, Mike Brown, Alan Drysdale and Fergus Middleton ensured a high scoring victory for the Fife side who were travelling with a squad full of experience and youth.

New faces to the squad included Liam Harley, Grant Fraser, Rory Johnstone, Bruce Hawkings and Scott Tiester who all impressed immensely and made future team selections a difficult task.

Injured vice-captain and coach for the day John Murray said: “Everyone gave it 110 per cent out there today.

“I was really impressed with our new guys who went out and played superbly.

“We’ve worked really hard pre-season so it’s great to head home with a win.”

Waid’s next game is a home tie against Perthshire which will take place at Waid Park on Saturday August 24, with a kick-off time of 2pm.
