Canadian forward quits Fife Flyers ‘with immediate effect’ and returns to North America

A season of players coming and going took another twist tonight as Ryan Foss left Fife Flyers.

The Canadian forward has departed the club with immediate effect to pursue an opportunity in North America.

Foss was a mid-season signing by Tom Coolen as the then coach looked to add size to his roster. He brought that, but his output was minimal with just four goals in 29 league starts. He also notched 15 assists.

Foss was part of a second line that had to be completely rebuilt after a season ending injury to Johnny Curran, now interim coach, and the departure of Martin Latal and he missed the opening six games with concussion.

The six-three Canuck joined in October from ECHL outfit Norfolk Admirals where he replaced Vitalijs Pavlovs who had come to Kirkcaldy last season.

He was due to serve a one-game ban which was suspended during December’s chaos and the remaining two Kazakh skaters, and Drake Pilon quit the dressing-room, and an injury crisis saw several players dispatched from teams in the NHIL to provide emergency cover.

Flyers have also confirmed that defenceman Noah Delmas’ season is over after he suffered a lower body injury in the game against Glasgow Clan on February 8. He has been placed on Injury Reserve (IR) which means a mandatory 90 days out of action. That move allowed the club to sign former team captain Jonas Emmerdahl as temporary cover and he will make his home debut against Cardiff Devils on Sunday

A club spokesman said: “We can also confirm that Noah Delmas has been placed on Injured Reserve after sustaining a lower body injury in the game versus Glasgow Clan. As a result, Noah will miss the remainder of the 2024/2025 season. Everyone at the organisation wishes Noah a speedy recovery from his injury.”
