Coronavirus: Fife duo miss out on GB call-up as trip to Spain is cancelled
GB Women unveiled the team that would have gone to this month’s World Championship in Jaca were it not cancelled due to the outbreak.
GB were set to compete against hosts Spain, as well as Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Latvia and Mexico, in the six-team tournament.

Hide AdKirkcaldy’s Beth Scoon was listed among the 22 players picked for the squad, alongside fellow Fifer, Sophie Campbell, from Lundin Links.
However, IIHF announced earlier this month that the tournament was one of a number to be cancelled because of the coronavirus.
Head coach, Cheryl Smith, said: “The 22 players and two reserves bust a gut to get into the World Championship squad and they deserve to be recognised.
“It was devastating for them to have the tournament cancelled, but we all totally understand the reasons behind it.

Hide Ad“The coaching staff had already named the team and told the girls - and then we heard about the tournament being cancelled.
“Being named in any type of GB squad is a very special honour, no matter what level you play at. Putting on that GB shirt is one of the most proudest things you can do in the sport.
“These players sacrificed a lot this year - and worked so hard - so we feel it is only right they should get the recognition for it.”
Both Beth and Sophie play for Kingston Diamonds Female Ice Hockey Club based in Hull having come through the junior ranks at Kirkcaldy Ice Hockey Club.
